PRP Therapy in Tucson

blood vial and centrifuge

Platelet-rich plasma, or “PRP,” therapy is an all-natural evidence-based technique shown to help injured ligaments, tendons and soft tissue. Along with the liquid called plasma, your blood contains red cells, white cells and platelets. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is obtained via a process called centrifugation which removed red and white blood cells from a blood sample while leaving behind a high concentration of platelets in the plasma. These platelets contain proteins called growth factors that are very important to the healing process.

What are PRP Injections?

PRP injections, backed by science and research, works by introducing natural growth factors into the aggravated area(s) via injection. PRP injections involve high concentrations of collagen, as well as several other plasmas, which are capable of initiating regrowth of healthy tissues throughout the body.

For many pain sufferers, the existence of injured soft tissue is a major factor contributing to discomfort – and PRP therapy works to directly address this underlying condition (as opposed to simply treating the symptom).

During a PRP treatment, a professional will extract a small blood sample, which is then placed in a centrifuge and spun to separate platelet-rich plasma materials. This blood plasma is highly useful as it contains unique irreplaceable growth factors that promote regeneration on a cellular level. The platelets are then injected into the injured area activating the body to start the healing process. All of the tubes used for procedure are FDA approved.

PRP is an all-natural option that relies on the body’s own natural ability to self-heal and regenerate. Further, patients have no risk of rejection, as their own personal plasma is utilized for each treatment.
